Tangent GB Immediate Past President Gill Preston's address to the Indian NAGM

LCI President Malin, LCI Board, Councillors, ladies and gentlemen.

It is an honour and privilege to bring greetings to your AGM from Tangent members worldwide. Tangent members are present today as representatives of their Tangent countries. The presence of us all is a symbol that our International Friendships are long lasting. Amongst them are the 3 countries that began the history of LCI in 1959, Tangents GB, Denmark and Sweden from which came your founder members.
In bringing this greeting to your AGM I know Tangent members worldwide would want us to congratulate you Malin and your Board on your achievements this year. They would want us to thank you for becoming part of the history of LCI. They would want us to thank you for the part you are playing in securing the future of LCI.
In Bruges you asked us to ‘DO IT’ a reference to Information technology. You did it with your new website improving communication between your members. You have made a difference to young lives through your International project ‘ECPAT’ and the Youth Partnership Projects. In Bruges you asked us to ‘DO IT’, to step forward and do things so we would have no regrets. Like many of us, you all ‘Did It’, stepped forward and volunteered and I am sure this year has proved for you all one in which you have no regrets. The memories you take with you will always be yours and can never be taken from you.
Malin did you ‘DO IT’? Did you make history in becoming the first LCI President to give birth during her year as President? You have shown anything is possible if you want to ‘DO IT’ being LCI President and becoming a Mum to Charlie.
Malin you have had the support of your Board throughout your year. To Kjersti, Anne-Mette and Nicole we wish you well as you leave the Board and know that your successors will carry on your good work. To all

Councillors we know that your discussions and decisions will have been in the best interests of LCI. Thank you for the time you have given.
As part of our ‘Friendship’ we must respect each other, talk to each other, listen to each other and continue to learn from each other so that we move forward together, adopting, adapting and improving our Associations locally, nationally and internationally.
To Circlers all over the world - Congratulations to you all for keeping Ladies Circle young and sparkling, for keeping up the spirit of friendship and service and for proving that different cultures from all over the world can live in harmony filled with warm hearts, happiness and colour.
Tangent members worldwide extend the hand of friendship to you Malin, your Board and all Ladies Circle members. We wish you the very best for your AGM and the rest of the conference weekend.
To the Board please accept these gifts in friendship and as a thank you for continuing the work of LCI.

Gill Preston

A BRIEF REPORT ON TANGENT INDIA

We have been working together with Tangent Denmark towards forming Tangent International, this has been a slow process as we want to build a solid foundation for the future. We feel that Tangent members, want the opportunity of international contact but do not want an International Board with the implications and cost that entails.

For over 27 years Tangent has been International, since Denmark formed their own National Association, other countries then followed. Tangent has few rules and regulations with each country deciding their own policy. In GB and most other Tangent countries our objectives are:

To link together Tangent Clubs
To promote amongst Tangent Clubs the continuation and extension of friendships made in Ladies Circle
To help Ladies Circle when requested

For the moment the webpage linked below will have National Associations details with programmes of National AGMs special anniversaries etc. including costs, possible travel arrangements and contact details, this will allow those members who are interested in attending to make direct contact. Details of overseas Clubs that are affiliated to Tangent GB. have been included.

At the Associations AGM held in Ipswich on the 16th April 2011 a Memorandum of understanding was signed by National President Gill Preston, Immediate Past President and IRO Jan Mulqueen with National President and Vice-President of the Tangent Clubs of Denmark Susanne Norager and Jeanett Koch. The wording of the document may be viewed here.
