| Saturday, 26th June dawned very warm and sunny, with a cloudless sky, the wonderful weather was going to stay with us for 'our' day. Alsager Tangent Club from Cheshire had hosted the National Executive ladies the previous evening at a member's house near Congleton, in fact we had been in her beautiful garden all evening enjoying delicious Take & Taste food provided by Alsager members.
The Luncheon the following day was held at Crewe Hall, Cheshire and almost 200 ladies arrived from all parts of the country, not just the Northern counties. How lovely it was that we were able to wander outside this prestigious hotel before and after the Lunch in glorious sunshine.
We had super food, entertaining speeches and our main speaker, Lilian King, former Chief Superintendent of Greater Manchester Police was hilarious. As can be seen from the pictures she had most of us almost in tears! Audrey Walker playing old and new tunes for us on her keyboard during everyone's arrival and we had two table magicians entertaining us during the meal.
We were very fortunate in the support we received from local businesses, individuals and members for our wonderful raffle, which raised, with one or two donations, £1,000 for Hope House Children's Hospice in Oswestry, Shropshire, which also supports families in Cheshire.
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves greatly, catching up with old friends and chatting to new acquaintances. Alsager Tangent members went home tired, happy and pleased that the day had gone so well. |
